DESCRIPTION: We want to create an active community, a dynamic city where activity, business and retail can coexist. The urban and architectural design is here focused into creating a new city typology. The blocks are designed to enhance the connection within the district; the rounded triangular network allows enhancing the exposure of every single building, creating perspectives that will give an extra value to every block. SGBC community wants to be a leading example in sustainable design: from a master plan design where the blocks are shaped to enhance the prevailing breezes to flow through the site, to an architectural facade design with cantilevered terraces and crossed ventilation units. A 55,000m2 park works as a green belt that protects the new buildings from the noise of the highway and train while hosting new equipments and open spaces for the citizens. The typology of the courtyard building allows us to create a big garden inside every building block allowing cross-ventilation and a double sided view from every unit. As a main destination, SGBC Community provides not only culture and activities to its own users, but also will become an attraction for outside users through the presence of public equipments such as Shanghai Logistics Museum.
